Then the year is over, and her job is done. But the plants will keep growing, uncurling their stems, stretching their leaves outward and showing their faces to the sun.

Give a Gift Day Fundraiser and book launch

March 23, 2013

What: Fundraiser for education in Africa and book launch of Gift Days
When: Saturday March 23, 2:30pm
Where: Talbot Teen Centre, St. Thomas, Ontario

In North America children live a life of privilege. They have clean water, healthy foods, and opportunities for education, rest, and play. This interactive book launch fund raiser is intended to raise money for two causes that I feel strongly about: The Talbot Teen Centre and Equity in the Developing World. Half the donations of money and school supplies will be given away locally, and the rest brought to Africa in April.

The following donations will be accepted at the event:

  • Canadian Tire Money (to buy school supplies for children in Africa)
  • Unused school supplies (e.g., pencils, note books, glue sticks, markers, scissors, pencil crayons, construction paper, paints, brushes, etc.)
  • Loose change
  • Old glasses
  • Light scarves or old costume jewelry (for the teachers and the grandmothers)
  • Hockey bags (to carry the supplies to and around Africa)
  • Hotel shampoos/lotions/soaps
